Do you guys actually think Rush, Hannity, and Savage lie? What would the fairness doctrine actually do to help?

Would it silence the right and allow us to push our socialist agenda through without a fight from the right wing wackos.|||The sad part is that his is a shinning example of what we have to look forward to for the next 4 years. The government should NEVER be given the power to silence the opposition. That has happened before, maybe you have heard of The Soviet Union, or Nazi Germany. People didn't fair very well in either of those by having their voices silenced.|||They do stretch the truth, but they also believe in what they say. But it appears that you do not believe in free speech. That is very sad. If everyone believed the way you do, life would be too boring. By the way, all politicians, lawyers, and weathermen lie too and get away with it. What about them?|||It should be left up to citizens and their critical thought to determine what is fair or not, and act on it by ceasing to listen to them, or by calling them out on it in public. Our justice system already recognizes defamation, libel, slander, etc. I don't yet know the details of this initiative, but I'll be looking out for it.|||No, and they all will tell you to question them and look it up for yourself.

To a liberal, a lie is nothing more than a truth they don't want anyone to know.|||I think that hate radio is a very profitable business and without it those guys would be forced to actually work for a living.|||Believing in what you are saying is not lying. All of the above, are commentators and openly admit their conservative bias. They are stating opinions... as is their right. For the big guys, the Fairness Doctrine wouldn't have much effect. People like Rush have enough money to circumvent the restrictions required in the Doctrine. But the little guys at the local stations would be silenced, because the radio stations could not survive the administrative burden it would carry with it.|||I do think that they have a right to their own opinion, but that doesn't mean that i'll always agree with them. besides, they both cracks me up and i like listening to Hannity, he's a little out there but he gets his point across.|||I do believe in freedom of speech. I do not believe in a ONE SIDED propaganda machine. The things that I have heard from the right wing talkers (and I listen a lot) seem mostly designed to demonize the competition. Spin at the least and outright LIES at the worst.A properly executed "Fairness Doctrine" would only enforce equal time and quality of substance so that the American people can get ALL sides of an issue and make informed decisions based on what is actually in their own best interest.Conservative politicians FEAR an informed electorate and have worked very hard ever since the first Reagan campaign to keep the American middle class from getting both sides of the issues. WHY? Because the wealthy elite understand that their numbers can NEVER stand up to the middle class vote if they vote in favor of their own wallet. It is too bad that the weaker minded members of the middle class cannot see that they have been HAD by the propaganda specialists on the right.

Besides all this a fairness doctrine might cause some of the smaller stations with weak signals to broadcast both sides and it would be GREAT to hear Rush and Sean have to do commercials for "COLON CLEANSE"
