Would this be against the ENGLISH Law?

If you had witnessed something in a murder trial that could possibly lead to the conviction of the accused, and refused to give evidence against him, would that be illegal? Or do you have the right to silence and keep what you saw a secret. Or for you beneficial gain.

Thank you.|||Withholding evidence and possibly perverting the course of justice. Could get you locked up in some cases.

I think the right to silence thing only applies in instances of self-incrimination.|||that's a crime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
