Was John Lennon Really Gunned Down By Mark David Chapman, Or Was He Assassinated By Mark David Chapman?

Was Chapman really a looney or was he a tool of the right to silence John Lennon? I just want to know what your thoughts are.|||Chapman was a deranged dude who read too much Catcher In the Rye. He was motivated by the fact that Lennon didn't follow his own message and profited off of peddling impossible ideals to the masses.|||Just curious, do you see a difference in justification between the two?

Assassination simply means Lennon was targeted by someone, while gunned down would seem to imply that he didn't plan it (like a drive-by or something).

It's clear from interviews that he wanted to kill Lennon.|||I would think he was gunned down. Assassinations should be for like government folks and such.

I believe there was something wrong with the man because I thought he was a fan of Lennon but really no human should be silenced with death. Well unless he murdered a bunch of people...|||The guy that shot him was definitely crazy.

However, John Lennon was also making major waves. (FBI was wiretapping him etc.)

We will probably never know the truth.|||Interesting idea. Ever hear a Tom Paxton's song "Crazy John?" Includes the lyric -- "When the people get lost, they start building a cross." It was written a few years before Lennon's death.|||The dude was nuts.

John Lennon wasn't really important enough to assassinate. Sure they didn't like him and caused legal troubles, but to kill him? Not so much.|||Silence Lennon for what? Lennon was a moron! Every single Beatle was a high school drop out who was musically talented and the left saw them as a voice of wisdom!

Please!|||i presume he was gunned down,

only the people who really knew him would be able to give you the answer you are looking for.|||If you take the line that I do as John Lennon in music then being a leader by definition he was assassinated.|||Neither. Lennon was taller, so he was gunned up.|||I don't think Lennon was much of a threat to the right. Most people were much more interested in his music than his politics.|||He worked for they who shall not be named.|||If you have seen him in interviews, he is a crazy man.|||Dead is dead.|||both and neither
